The explosive development of software components akin to digital trade, ent- prise source making plans and cellular computing has profoundly and irreversibly replaced our perspectives on software program structures. these days, software program is to be according to open architectures that constantly switch and evolve to deal with new parts and meet new specifications. software program should also function on di?- ent structures, with out recompilation, and with minimum assumptions approximately its working atmosphere and its clients. additionally, software program needs to be strong and ¨ self sufficient, able to serving a naive consumer with at the least overhead and interference. Agent suggestions carry nice promise for responding to the hot realities of software program platforms. They o?er higher-level abstractions and mechanisms which handle matters resembling wisdom illustration and reasoning, conversation, coordination, cooperation between heterogeneous and self sustaining events, p- ception, commitments, ambitions, ideals, and intentions, all of which want conceptual modelling. at the one hand, the concrete implementation of those innovations may end up in complex functionalities, e.g., in inference-based question answering, tra- motion keep an eye on, adaptive work?ows, brokering and integration of disparate inf- mation assets, and automatic verbal exchange techniques. nevertheless, their wealthy representational features enable extra trustworthy and ?exible remedies of advanced organizational approaches, resulting in extra e?ective standards an- ysis and architectural/detailed design.

2 Communicative Interactions AML provides generic extensions to UML interactions in order to model interactions between groups of objects (using multi-message and multi-lifeline), dynamic change of an object’s attributes induced by interactions (using role change), modeling of messages and signals not explicitly associated with an invocation of corresponding methods and receptions (using agentified message and agentified signal). In addition to these generic concepts, AML also models communicative act based interactions commonly used in multi-agent systems, particularly: communicative acts (specialized agentified messages), communicative interactions (specialized UML interactions used to model communicative act based interactions), and interaction protocols (parametrized communicative interactions used to model patterns of interactions).

Thanks to a growning effort from the community and particularly via the FIPA Modeling technical committee, the Agent UML takes a second birth. 0 Interaction diagram specification, which offers more possibilities for agent interaction protocols. As stated in the introduction, the interaction diagram family contains four different diagrams. We only address here the sequence diagram but there are as well the interaction overview diagram, the communication diagram and the timing diagram. Even if we do not speak about them, they can be of interest for agent interaction protocols.

Since there are Lifelines with roles regardless of the agent instances, each Lifeline can represent several agents. However, a piece of information may be added on the first Lifeline that there is one and only one Initiator. All the Messages are asynchronous. The first one is sent from the Initiator role to the Participant role. After this sending, the receiver role can answer either with a refuse Message or with an agree Message denoted by the CombinedFragment with the InteractionOperator Alternative.
